MARKET LINKAGE
FROM THE HILLS OF SYNTEIN TO
WIDER MARKETS
For artisans of the Syntein Cluster in Kenbah and Kenmynsaw, limited markets and exposure have long challenged the growth of traditional cane and bamboo craftsmanship.
With support from the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and through the efforts of NEDF and NKSPCL, artisans have received entrepreneurship training, technical skills, toolkits, design development and market-oriented support.
Design has helped bridge tradition with contemporary markets, enabling artisans to explore new forms and high-value products while preserving their heritage. Exhibitions and craft fairs further connect them with customers, designers, buyers and exporters.
Through NKSPCL’s collective platform, artisans are strengthening production, branding and market access—building sustainable craft enterprises, livelihoods and confidence.
Every handcrafted piece carries the skill, culture and identity of Syntein to the wider world.
